“Lie In Our Graves” (02.06.97)

I’m back in Charlottesville after a fun night in Blacksburg. It’s always good to go “home”. I’ll devote my song of the day to a couple Cville artists performing in Blacksburg on February 6, 1997.

John Mayer
“Gravity” w/ Leroi Moore (09.06.07)

I’m heading to Blacksburg tonight, home of Virginia Tech. In honor of the trip, I’ll devote my song of the day to a performance in Blacksburg over four years ago.

In what I believe is the only concert ever in Lane Stadium, the Dave Matthews Band put on a free show for students and faculty to remember and celebrate the lives of the 32 who died in the Virginia Tech massacre on April 16, 2007. Phil Vassar, Nas, and John Mayer also performed. “Gravity” was the closer in John Mayer’s set with the late Leroi Moore guesting on sax. Very powerful.

If I see anything related to Tame Impala on the interwebz, I am immediately attracted to it. Yesterday amidst the SOPA and PIPA tweets, an update about Pond’s upcoming spring tour caught my attention. Pond consists of three members of Tame Impala. Their next album will be released in the US on March 6th.

Learn more about Pond here and their spring tour dates are here.
